Kindling and Offcuts

Offcuts
Offcuts are the initial product cut from the log as it is
squared up for producing lumber. They are the outside slabs with the bark on.
Depending on the shape of the initial log they may be quite uniform or highly
variable in depth and width.
Hardwood offcuts make very good firewood when dry and stack well when cut to length and split. Because of the large exposed face and thickness they also tend to dry relatively quickly.
Softwood offcuts, particularly cedar, can be used for such purposes as raised gardens beds. We don’t keep an inventory of such material because of our own requirements and space limitations so let us know of any interest you might have so we can set some aside for you.
